Question #2:

The flooding in Cumbria - where are all the pets?

I've seen people being rescued, and sheep standing in a flooded field, but where are all the dogs and cats? I've not yet seen any being rescued, and surely there must be people with dogs/cats? Or have they done a New Orleans, and left them to their fate?
Hawkeye - how do you think a dog, or a cat is going to get out of those raging torrents on their own! And personally my dogs would be saved before me!!! Depends on individual priorities I guess. But I just wondered where all the pets were in the News reports - that's all!

Question #8:

Las Vegas's version of Hurricane Katrina?

I am curious about something. Almost everyone knows that engineers were writing reports for about 50 years that basically said we built most of New Orleans below sea level, and if we ever get a hurricane that hits the city the place is going to flood. Then Katrina surprised us by doing exactly that.
--------------------
In California they've known that sooner or later the San Andreas Fault is going to rupture, and the expectation is that there will be a 30' drop in the El Cajon pass. It will shut down the rail lines, smash interstate 15, cut the power lines, and all the fiber optic cable. Actually unlike Katrina which was based on probability, we know the San Andreas fault MUST rupture, since that is the only way to relieve the tectonic stress building along the fault line.
--------------------
We know that the repairs could take forever, and cost a significant fraction of a trillion dollars. Without the use of Interstate 15, the other routes from Los Angeles are hopelessly overcrowded, narrow roads that are already so overused that traffic moves at an average of 30 mph.
--------------------
Knowing that the city will be driven to near collapse, don't you think that they should build an alternative freeway to Los Angeles? It would go from Barstow to Palmdale and replace the tiny Antelope Valley expressway to Santa Clarita and downtown Los Angeles.
-----------------
There is a slight possibility that both freeways would collapse, but the Antelope Valley portion of the fault slipped in 1857. The best guess is that this portion won't slip for an additional century.
--------------
I think if the freeway is down for 9 months it will dwarf the current recession in Las Vegas. Can you imagine a Las Vegas where 95% of the drive in traffic from Los Angeles is gone? In addition, many people will be afraid to drive through the pass for years, because there will be television coverage of cars flying over the cliff and smashing into chasms.

--------------
Will we just say "Why didn't anyone prepare for this decades ago?"
The San Andreas fault north of Interstate 15 slipped in a major earthquake in 1857 (before there were many people). Geologists believe that it is not under as much pressure, and may survive another century. The alternative routes would cross at somewhere up there. The road would not be useless since Palmdale/Lancaster is a fast growing region of Southern California.
==========
I realize a disaster is a disaster, and NYC and San Francisco had to tough it out. But these cities had some kind of option. Las Vegas has no options besides I15 to move SIGNIFICANT numbers of people. Hundreds of thousands could be unemployed.
The collapse would be in California, at the pass coming out of LA. There would be no major earthquake in Nevada. However, the economic impact would be felt in Nevada since no significant amount of road traffic can get from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

Question #9:

Southern Fried Chicken Recipe?

I already know how to make fried chicken, but I am looking to experiment with the seasoning. My dad claims the best fried chicken he ever had was in New Orleans, so any suggestions that would help it taste like that would really help. Thanks!

Question #10:

Are there any other cities like new orleans?

That knew a hurricane was coming AND THEN LEFT THE ELDERLY IN NURSING HOMES TO DROWN?? I mean, seriously..has this ever happened before in the USA?? A major disaster hits and they dont' transfer the sick and elderly? Isn't that a priority?

It was President Bush's fault.

Question #12:

Question #13:

What would it take to get on of his Premier WR?

My roster:

QB Phillip Rivers
WR Steve Smith (NYG)
WR Derrick Mason
WR Kevin Walter
RB Stephen Jackson
RB Ladell Betts
TE Dallas Clark
W/R Justin Forsett
K Matt Stover
DEF New Orleans
BN Braylon Edwards
BN Johnny Knox
BN Laurence Maroney
BN Ryan Moats
BN Steve Slaton
BN Minnesota

Other guys roster:

QB Vince Young
WR DeSean Jackson
WR Randy Moss
WR Andre Johnson
RB Kevin Smith
RB LaDainian Tomlinson
TE Kellen Winslow
W/R Beanie Wells
K Matt Prater
DEF Cincinnati
BN Cedric Benson
BN James Jones
BN Matt Ryan
BN Knowshon Moreno
BN Bernard Scott
BN Green Bay

I would love AJ, but I wouldnt cry over moss or jackson. Im just really fond of AJs matchups (who wouldnt be)

Is there anything on my roster you would take if you were him, to get AJ or Randy Maouse (Stephen Jackson is out of the question - He is the only Premier Back I have since slaton had take a **** on me, other FF owners, and the Texans organization. Helen Keller has more coordination than this fumbling clown). Now my ass has to carry moats because I was hoping to exploit a playoff match or two, but they had a retarded wk 10 bye so I cant even see who will get more carries before the trade deadline hits on the 20th.
Nope, didn't miss out on snelling - didn't like long term value. Bloody lung/broken rib replaced with a much faster RB; Snelling - I think Turner will be back sooner than Julius Jones. At the time they didnt say it was a bad as a high ankle sprain, and it still may not be - Ive heard Turner could be back as early as wk 12. If I only got snelling for one game and it was against NYG, then no thanks. It was a calculated move to take forsett. McNabb had trouble w/ broken rib and he doesnt hit as much as a RB, so how long you think JJ will be out? I think in a week or 2 we will find out. Looking at playoffs and injuries - Id say forsett has a better chance playing at wk15 vs TB than Snelling on wk 16 vs BUF bc I believe Turner will be back faster (if not High ankle sprain) which at time was not mentioned. Snelling was there, but I took the road less traveled.
to 3rd guy that responded - this is a 14 team league. Taken TEs:
D. Clark, V. Davis, B. Celek, A. Gates, K. Winslow, T. Gonzales, G. Olsen, H. Miller, J. Shockey, V. Shaincoe, B.Watson, J. Witten, Z.Miller, T. Heap, D. Keller, C. Cooley, K. Boss, M. Lewis, T. Scheffler, B. Pettigrew, S. Ryan, D. Lee, B. Scaife.

This is a designated TE spot. Nobody else to pick up (carlson doesnt count - he is a blocker at this point). I cant give up a guy that is one of my most consistent on my team. I think you underestimate the competition to say to just "pick another guy up"

Question #14:

Questions considering making a move to New Orleans?

I wanted to make a move from Toronto to New Orleans, and was wondering what changes I should expect other than the climate. Also, what are some good neighbourhoods to live in that's close to the business district and places to go (i.e. New Orleans Arena/Superdome, restaurants, nightlife, etc.).

I really fell in love with the city when I visited and with such a low cost of living, thought it would be a great place to make a change.

Question #15:

Question #16:

Can you believe this ruling?

It's always someone else's fault, lol. I cannot believe that a judge ruled that it's the Army Corps Engineers fault that Katrina flooded most of Louisiana. LOL

Having dirt levees and living in a state that is sinking further and further below sea level is what caused the flooding. Not poor engineering.

"Many in New Orleans have argued that Katrina, which struck the region Aug. 29, 2005, was a manmade disaster caused by the Army Corps' failure to maintain the levee system protecting the city." -from the article

Why are people this dumb? First we blame Bush for Katrina (he obviously sent the storm, right?) and now we are blaming engineers for Katrina?? Are people really that stupid?
