Question #1:

It's a poem. comments criticism?

The gold of sunset had been used to death
the wind as metaphor for change has rhymed
pentameter beats harsh with every breath
and each small footstep has been keenly timed.

The words he chose were limned with ample care
great vistas he called forth in sullen prose
he worked it out to shine with awesome flare
no critic could complain, Minerva knows.

A poem can be killed by too much art
all verse hangs by a solemn, silken thread
and those that trot out flowing metered charts
are making sure for good and all it's dead

So this is rhyming by the critic's tome
it isn't art, it's damn sure not a poem.

Question #2:

Do you think it's natural for a guy like me to think or act this way?

Me and this guy were talking about, well, women of coarse and relationships between a man and a woman (conversation started when I was talking about why I chose to be single).

I wish I can describe what we said, but since it's long, I'm just going to jump straight into what ticked me off.

I was talking to him about why I chose to be single and other reasons, until he brought up, "Well, the way I see it, every guy should have a woman" or something like that. Now, it might be true in some people's cases, but to me, a guy doesn't need a woman that badly.

In other words, if one does not think he needs woman, then people should not look down on him and think he/she is weird in a way. I'm tired of society making people feel that everyone should have somebody. If two people are happy with one another, great, but if someone is better off being single for his/her personal reasons, that's fine, but don't look down on that single person, wondering, "Oh, why isn't he/she with someone", or "Dude, you need a girl". I especially hate those who are with someone, but have this "urge" or whatever to make a certain person feel lonely, by showing off his girl, or her man to whoever or something.

If you are happy with who you are with, then good. Keep it to yourself because in the end, know one cares. I'm sick of this repeatable crap cycling around me, and everything else that society is throwing at peoples faces. Call me weird, but when it comes to dating, I'm not putting myself out on the market or changing myself for someone else. I'm a decent man who's 20, I'm an artist, I do other stuff on my spare time, and I'm doing everything in my power to make art a living for me by becoming an illustrator when I graduate. If someone ever did come across to to not liking one bit on one of the things I do...then don't bother and waste my time.

I can be considered a nice guy, but I made myself the person who will not put up with any situation with anyone. I know the type of women out there I am interested in, so I know my taste. I don't mind talking to a woman too, but I'm to the point where I'm not looking for anything special unless it's serious, other than that, I have better things to do than having that waste my time.

Do you think it's weird for a 20 guy like me to think this way?? I might be young, but I know my standards, and I'm sticking to them. I've tried to do a little bit of what people around my age are doing, but it didn't work out. I even tried talking to people as well, but in the end, I realized that I'm better off not socializing with anyone unless I actually feel like it. I can have "fun", but I'm not going to force myself to be thrown in a house in some drinking party, other any of that other stuff under that category.

Also, someone told me that I'm considered a Classic Recluse, meaning one who knows he/she is recluse, and accepts it.

(I apologize for the rant. I just wanted to type this up quickly while I'm still thinking about it)

Question #12:

New to manga, and have high hopes?

Okay so I doubt I will get what I'm looking for, but I'll try anyways:

I've never read any manga, and I rarely watch anime, though I've always been interested in it for it's themes of epic fantasy, extreme emotions, and romantic adventures(I don't mean like love stories, but like really epic adventures). I do also think some of the love stories are cool, though it just seems most of the time they are way too simple, and not believable. For some reason I draw a bit of a parallel between manga and the epics in literature such as works by Homer. They just seem so intense, such a proclamation of human kind, and just how epic we can be.

What I want:
A manga that is "classy," while also being adventurous and all the things a manga should be. I want to be really impressed by a manga, I want to be blown away by the details, the artwork, the story lines, the depth, and all that. I have a deep love for anything made by Hayao Miyazaki, if that helps any. I have heard that "xxxHolic" is a good one, and lots of cool art, which is cool. Is it any good?

Also, I live in France right now(I'm American), so while there maybe isn't quite the selection as in the States or elsewhere, it's still REALLY easy to find manga(in French) in stores and such. Also, I could buy from the internet/read from the internet.

Also, a sub-question:
Is there such a thing as what I'm describing? Am I placing manga so high that I will never be satisfied by an actual manga? Thanks in advance! :D

Question #15:

How does increased government spending end a recession?

Isn't this just taking money out of your front pocket, and putting it in the back pocket? Oh, and losing much of it to bureaucracy along the way.

Cash for Clunkers paid $4,500 of our own money to buy a new car. But it cost $24k per car to do so. How does this stimulate anyhting?

The last of three stimulus bills cost $857 billion.

"We've looked it over, and even we can't quite believe it. There's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons."

How many of the above listed created a job?

The only way this 857 Billion dollar stimulus could pass was for legislators to bring home some bacon.

Did you know that your freedoms and tax dollars were for sale?

Do you care?

Question #17:

What is my sexual orientation?

Hi, I am confused about myself and wondering if this community can help me. I will lay out stuff about me so you can analyse it.

-Attracted to girls, want a girlfriend, enjoy sports, action movies, martial arts
-hate shopping

-But I am jealous of what girls can wear and want to wear it like dresses, undergarments, etc.
-In order to have a orgasm, I need to imagine myself as a innocent, vulnerable female being poked by a man
-dream of being a girl and sometimes wished I was one so I can act feminine and girly and experience female orgasm
-like art and sensitive

I am confused because I like stuff that is not often like by the opposite sex as listed above. Thanks for your time and understanding.

Question #19:

Getting an A* in edexcel Art & Design?

I really want to get an A* in art, but the grade boundary for edexcel A* in art is 97%!

Quite a few people last year in my school got an A*, so I was wondering if it's not too difficult to get an A* as long as you have a good amount of work?

I work on my sketchbook all the time & aim to fill around 5 pages a week with quality work & experiments. Anything more I should be doing?

I want to get an A* sooooo badly! I would really appriciate any advice people could give me. Especially if they got an A* in art.

Thank you!
GCSE art btw, sorry for not mentioning that! :)

Question #20:

any ideas for metaphors, similes, proverbs, sayings etc.?

Im taking a class on art therapy and I have a pretty cooky teacher. She wants me to think up a SERIES of metaphors or sayings for the following topics: machines, animals, plants, emotions, abstract concepts, and therapy... (I wish teachers like this didn't exist!) I have got some for every category except therapy, machines, and plants. (I have one for each but that isn't enough apparently)
here's what I have:
machines: runs like clockwork
plants: short end of the stick
therapy: picking up the pieces
emotions: apple of my eye (love)
I thought thinking up one for each was quite an accomplishment given the difficulty of this task! I need at least one or two more for each though. Does anyone have ANY suggestions? Thanks a lot! I really appreaciate any help I can get on this one.... :S
WOW! you guys are SOOO much better at this than me!! thank you thank you!
Wendy your answers were great and it was a close call! but Im gonna have to go with Herr Borris for best answer since they were all really common, short and sweet, and neatly categories. But thanks to you both. If I could give best answer to both of you I would.
