Question #1:

Would Napoleon and Marie Antoinette got along?

Like Nicholas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni?

Question #2:

What are the names of some bands that French teenagers listen to nowadays?

I'm 17, studying French and would like to listen to some Francophone bands/singers... I've tried Noir Désir and Carla Bruni but they're not really my type of music, so if anyone could suggest any French rock/alternative/pop bands/singers that are popular with French teenagers nowadays that would be so helpful!

Thanks :)
by the way, my favourite bands/singers that sing in English are The Rocket Summer, All Time Low, We The Kings, Paramore, Hey Monday, Taylor Swift, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, The Hush Sound... if that helps

Question #3:

How to become more ladylike without getting walked over on?

Famous graceful women, such as Grace Kelly and Carla Bruni Sarcozy, are my role models. But it's so hard to be more like them in a society where people are reluctant to change, and only look out for themselves. If you act in a more feminine and polie manner, people always take advantage of you, e.g. they try your patience by getting on your nerves all the time. Anyway, that's what's been happening to me.
What can I do to be more graceful without being made fun of?

Question #4:

Why are people, especially Anglos, against a person like Nicholas Sarkozy being with gorgeous Carla Bruni?

I noticed in American culture, basically it is a hot women only for hot men. This means the man has to look gay muscles/tall, six packs, and be uneducated, rude, loud, and criminal-like. This is what all young hot girls in America like.

Average men even if educated, cultured, and ambitious in America are forced to go for fat women or go abroad for real women.

Sarkozy is decent looking, but short, while Bruni is tall
slender/fit( a real woman). Why does American culture hate men like him with stunning girls ?
I never see average looking guys with young stunning looking girls.

When I say average guys, i mean guys that are not fat, but slender and clean, not tall, but with little muscle and with no gay features.
I never see average looking guys with young stunning looking girls in the United States.

In other places in the world I have seen.

The Limits of Reinvention
If you think the U.S. was hated for being strong, wait until you see how it’s despised for being weak.

By Denis Boyles
(Denis Boyles teaches at The Brouzils Seminars in France. His most recent book is Superior, Nebraska.)

It’s like the heady days of Paris, 2005. This week, the French ruling clique is having a go at America, pouring vintage disdain on American puissance — and finding that power woefully misapplied.

This was all supposed to change under Pres. Barack Obama, the first U.S. president in history to take a global lap just to say he’s sorry for his country’s behavior. His plan was to reinvent America’s image in the world. He became an overnight sensation in Paris, delighting les médiacrates with his easy dismissal of French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla Bruni. Months later, in France, the only person more popular with the press than Roman Polanski is Barack Obama.

But that may soon change — as it has already at the Elysée, and, for that matter, in government offices in Berlin and in Brussels and in the eastern capitals. In those places, Barack Obama, the man who practically invented reinvention, is himself being reinvented as an ugly American. Not because he’s seen as loud and aggressive, but because he’s seen as weak.

When are the Frenchmen (the women are okay, they can't help that they are stuck with a bunch of wussies, I suppose) going to say 'Merci Beaucoup' for having their sorry butts saved twice?

Next time they are on their own, if they keep up this kind of garbage.

(And I suppose their are some 'Real Americans' who totally agree with this idiotic reasoning)

Question #10:

Please recommend French singers/albums - likes of Barbara?!?

I'm planning my trip to Paris in the winter and would love recommendations on French music.

Last time I went, a record store clerk in Paris recommended Barbara. I absolutely loved it. Her music epitomizes what French songs are about...to me at least.. I'd say I prefer the more traditional styles of singings, namely Barbara and Edith Piaf.

I heard Carla Bruni's music resembles much of that of Barbara? Anyone else? I'd also prefer a singer with good proper pronouciation of French, not recent pop stars who sings French songs like English.

I'd like to buy a CD for my trip which will remind me of the great time I have in paris.

Thanks much!
