My best friend has cut off our friendship for good. Am I or she in the wrong?

Ever since we got back from a competition, she has told me she wants to put off our friendship. I've known her for about two months and I was happy to be her friend, and I thought she was too. Now, I know she isn't jealous despite my winning an award because she's the girl with all "A+'s" and a 4.0 GPA. My grades aren't as high up as her so I see no reason for her to be jealous of my winning my first award (this is the third contest we entered together, and she won the first two and an X-box for her efforts).

There's absolutely no reason for her to be jealous since I did the wrong topic and I only managed to win the competition by sheer dumb luck. She is very homophobic and close-minded, and do not mind being a tyrant (in fact, she prides herself in that conception). She bashes all gays since she's a "Christian" and her entire family is Christian, and she thinks it's immoral and disgusting. Now, I do not share the same views as her. In fact, I read and write fictional homosexual relationships and I have friends who are, in fact, homosexual. I do read "straight" stories/ fanfiction but she thinks every pairing I agreed to liking are lies parroted back. I don't get it. I was telling the truth when I said I liked those pairings too, but I generally don't read them as often.

Whenever she goes on a rant on gays, I keep my mouth shut (and I never once mentioned "slash" in her presence since she gets so freaked out). I try to humor her but when it gets heated, I change the subject. But today she had accused me of being fake and has attempted to convert me into “the right path”. She hasn’t stopped so far. For the fake comment, maybe I do give off that air since my personality changes to accommodate each individual I befriend. I agree with pretty much everything that she says but even so, it rubs her off the wrong way. She likes argumentive people and she abhors the way I’m quiet (which I think is unreasonable since she only targeted me whereas there are plenty of friends that are “shy”). She doesn’t like it that I’m lying to her and knows nothing about me. I had “broken her trust in me” and everything she had told me is “the truth” (even her secrets I never told anyone else, and I defend her name whenever people started talking about her in a bad way). I have made attempts to talk about myself to her but she always seem to be distant, not paying attention to anything I say and it’s quite frankly… discouraging. The only way I can maintain a conversation with her is by humoring her with inquiries and joking around. She says that she mentally processes all that I say because, since her family is her best friend, and parrot everything back to them. Her parents disapprove of our friendship because they saw me, on the day my best friend from my old school set up a get-together, wearing the shirt my friend made for my birthday and a cap she bought for me as a goodbye gift (I wore the cap to the side). To her father, I looked like a gangster and I set a bad impression. According to her, her parents’ words is the law so if they disapprove of a friend, then she won’t go against them.

The lies… that she had accused me of is not only my personality but the writing of slash fiction. She said I never once told her I wrote yaoi (which I secretly don’t remember) and she was mortified when she read my web bio. Also, since she isn’t “the touchy-feely type of girl”, she dislikes it when I “hover” over her and blames me for being too clingy. She is… the first girl… who has ever told me that. I don’t think I’m exactly hovering because she just looks so lonely (this is the first year she has ever sat with anyone) and since I thought we were friends, I thought I could make her a bit happy by striking up a conversation because it had always worked for me.

She wants to retain her pureness and chastity, and is under the misconception that many boys are in love with her and therefore, approaching boys should be reported for sexual harassment. She hates a boy I talk to, and thinks I am the “gateway he uses to gain her and her affections”. Apparently, she thinks I am his friend and “she doesn’t want me to choose between him and her”. So in the class we three share together, she proposes steering clear of each other. Granted, she exaggerated on many accounts and continually reports him (which I think is a form of bullying) despite him innocently bumping into us and striking up random conversation. Even a simple cheer coming from him disturbs her (like a straightforward “Good job!”) She thought I was the type of girl who seems “sensible” and doesn’t approve of my friends, and that I “should know better”. She likes hanging out with girls that have similarities to her (i.e. good grades). At first glance, she told me she thought I was a lesbian and because I’m a slash writer, that “automatically makes me gay and eventually I’m prone to hit on her and etc.” No matter how many times I reassure her I don’t go for women, she keeps bring
-ing it up and it’s starting to annoy me. That and her tendencies towards pride and attacking people within hearing distance.
She can tell my mood, whether I’m depressed or cheerful, and she said it was scaring her because I was the first girl to ever invoke such empathy in her. Apparently, I suffer through “moodswings” and am always an “emo”, and she condemns me for the friends I have and the “nocturnal-like lifestyle” I assume. She’s basing our fast friendship on previous experiences, and admits to being afraid of having a best friend since they “always backstab you in the back”. I’ve been “demoted” from a “close friend” into a “close acquaintance”.
But despite all this, I genuinely want to continue being friends with her. She’s mature, sophisticated (though flattery is often needed), quick-witted, and is overall, a great person to be friends with. She’s incredibly kind-hearted (towards the same sex) and we do, in fact, share many common interests. There are also characteri
stics I dislike about her but since we share so many classes together, before I went through a schedule change, I’m disappointed our friendship is waning. Am I or she in the wrong? I would like to know another perspective of this concern. If you were in her shoes and you’ve willingly been living in seclusion and in just two months, a transfer student has burrowed her way into your life, would you be freaked out or happy? I am conflicted and I cannot decide whether I should avoid her or attempt to make amends. But, she has warned me of being the female version of my friend that she loathes, and wouldn’t hesitate to “report me to the director/ head/ professor”. Should I just avoid her or attempt regaining her affections even if it results in swallowing my pride and/or being reported for harassment?

I'm looking for a new anime to watch, but I'm not looking for anything realistic or overly serious. Just basically something like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, or Tenchi Universe. Will you recommend a series or movie that is similar in concept and humor to the three I've just mentioned?

Other animes I've already watched but aren't quite what I'm looking for are PlanetES,
Tenchi Muyo: GXP, Gundam, and a few others I can't think of at the moment, but you get the idea.

that was not a question lol. I just watched it during the summer and it really helped me a lot. When I was stressed out, I would just watch an episode of the O.C. and some episodes were of such good humor and others were sad but interesting that I really felt in a better mood by the end.

A 1: Perhaps one day at a time? One kind word, one hug or one "Let's bury the hatchet and try to be friends?" I think there is warmth in the coldest of hearts and at least some coolness in the warmest. But I am constantly striving to banish the coolness in mine and replace it with love and tolerance. And I will have to say I strongly object to your using "cold" and "atheist" together as though they belonged that way. They most certainly do not!

That's right, I'm 21 and I haven't been further than kissing a girl.

Since I've turn 18, left school and started my own company I don't get many opportunities to meet many women. Suffice to say, I haven't had a girlfriend in 3 years. This has got to be the longest dry spell in the history of humanity.

Why do I always get dumped. This has been happening my whole life. I meet a girl, she seems crazy about me. Then after about 3 weeks the reationship just goes down the drain.
