Free antivirus website/software?

just today my computer seized up and went to a virus-doctor.com website thing and immediately scanned my system and asked me to install a program. out of NOWHERE. so i freaked, turned the computer off and unplugged the ethernet cord. now i mustered the courage to get back on. my attempts to use ad-aware have failed for the past months and i haven't bothered to reinstall it. i know there are better things than ad-aware anyways i keep hearing about them. and i cant find this same question without it being a year old. looking for a good site that will get rid of this baloney.

Printer problem ... HP .... urgent!!?

My printer is the HP Photosmart 2610, and i NEED to print out an email for tomorrow.

I have so far tried it on four separate laptops/pcs on all it is malfunctioning - have installed all versions of driver .. no luck!

The vista laptops will not recognize it and they have before without the software ... going insane here, any advise welcome =(

What does the language bar do on my taskbar?

Every time I start my Win XP pro I see in the task bar that the "language bar" is there on the bottom right. I always right click my mouse and make it go away because I don't know what it does. What does it do and also why does it reappear every time I restart instead of remembering that I made it go away the last time I was logged on? Shouldn't it remember my settings that I don't want it to show on my taskbar...it has 3 small icons...the first is a microphone and the second is a paper and the third is and when I click on it, it opens a box that says something about speech to text, but I have never bought or used any speech to text software...does XP pro come with this software...please explain to me what this "language bar" is all about...thank you in advance for your time.

I was looking at my old MP3 player today. Basically, it's a flash-drive with buttons and a battery door. I remember formatting it to start fresh adding new music to it.

My question is, does formatting it erase everything that was ever on it? Or is it hidden away deep on it somewhere?

After the expiry of my Norton Anti Virus 2009.I downloaded AVG 8.0 Free Anti Virus.
Although Windows Vista provides a Windows Defender,and after installing Microsoft Security Essentials-windows defender stopped working.
Now I am worried about my computer's safety.
Should I download Anti - malware softwares like Spyware Doctor ?
Is my computer safe from viruses considering AVG 8.0 & Microsoft Security Essentials are working?
Today a lot of new viruses are developed,is my computer safe with these two anti-viruses loaded?
Please tell me anymore good Anti malwares and Anti-spy and Anti viruses which are free.Or please tell me how to get lisence keys of Norton or Mcafee.

so i have a handycam dcr-trv480.

i have recorded a bunch of video on Hi8 MP 120 tapes. i was under the impression that there is some software that can convert this to "digital video" (.avi, .mov, .wmv)

i tried to download the original software, but you need to pay for it. i downloaded vegas movie studio and tried to import, but my computer can recognize the drives.

i know i need drivers, but i can find them, even on archive sites. if you can find it for me great, or if not can you point me to a forum that can find them?

please explain how file recovery software work..if we are able to get back a file which is said to be deleted or even formatted,it means that the file is still in the system right?!..so then why is the memory space not reduced or running out..also...can i recover a large file say a movie file using this file recovery software!!?..

I'm having trouble associating words while learning the Japanese language?

I'm having trouble associating words while learning the Japanese language.
I'm currently trying to learn the Japanese language. I've only been at it for about 5 months, but I'm constantly reading books, using workbooks, flash cards, computer software (Tell Me More Japanese, to be exact), listening to audio cds, podcasts & watching Japanese tv shows on youtube. This is an everyday process for approximately 3-5 hours a day. But I'm still having issues associating the Japanese words. After a sentence is spoken, I have to think about it for a minute & say to myself "Ok, so [anata] means [you] & [daidokoro] means [kitchen]......" & so on...
Any tips on how it get this down a little easier?
I know it'll take time, I don't expect to learn it all overnight.
Any advice is welcome.

**Please don't suggest Rosetta Stone. I've already looked into it & did not like the program (or the ridiculous cost), that's why I choose "Tell Me More: Japanese" instead.
